Attract More Sales: Tip #292

On any given holiday take time to reflect on your journey and your secrets to success.

This past week was remarkable (stories immediately below) having learned three important lessons.

1. For the first time in my life, this week, a doctor told me I was at the perfect weight. After so many years battling the problem, my final changes were reading the book and beginning to eat for my blood type followed by not eating anything with preservatives and switching to organic food. As the weight began to shed, exercise became easier and easier and feeling good became a way of life.

2. Ever since the bottom fell out of the economy, I experimented with new strategies to re-position my business, take control and once again attract more sales. I learned with the click of a mouse utilizing social media and appropriate messaging, the world could be at my doorstep. I became focused on attraction and heart-based selling.

3. A recent graduate with no prospects of getting work due to her lack of experience contacted me. We spoke about her frustrations and I coached her on what she could do to turn the corporate objections around. I wanted her to have equal opportunity. My book HIRED! will be published in October so I sent her a copy of my first book “Nice Girls DO Get The Sale: Relationship Building That Gets Results”.

It was important for her to understand that sales skills are important in every venue and how to utilize them. Yesterday, she wrote that by my helping her, she was able to secure an incredible opportunity. Her email was testimony to what I had been working on all of these years!

What do all of these vignettes have in common, the lessons learned and tips for your success?

A. Never give up – keep pursuing new ideas that might work
B. Ask for help and collaborate
C. Work for the benefit of others

When you are of the mindset to pursue these 3 tips and find others who operate in similarly – mastermind and collaborate. You will attract more prospects, clients and sales. The underlying marketing-communication message is you are available to help others whether it’s on a job or as an entrepreneur. The road may be a tiny bit slower upfront, but when everything is in place and you build relationships with everyone, your rewards will grow exponentially in terms of repeat business, referrals and testimonials.

Business development becomes automatic and you experience the Smooth Sale!

Attract More Sales: Tip #290

How you request becomes how you receive!

Frequently, I write that the earmark of a dynamic business is the receiving of repeat business, referrals and testimonials. This is the area in which business development becomes automatic and sales pour in without much effort.

Many times a satisfied client will be so preoccupied with their own work, it will be up to you to keep a pulse on how they are doing in order to earn their repeat business. Additionally, they will not think to offer a referral or testimonial. You may always ask for the referral and/or testimonial – but it is in the asking that will make a huge difference in your outcome.

My words of advice are:

1. Never demand and never assume a referral or testimonial
2. Graciously ask if the person will be willing to provide either
3. Let your client know that either a negative or positive response will be fine so that you do not put them on the spot.

Someone recently not only demanded a testimonial from me but then proceeded to send a document outlining questions to be answered and exact instructions on how she wanted the testimonial to read. I found this very aggressive and it did not sit well with me.

The sad part is it gives pause to wonder if future business dealings should be conducted with this individual. I’m the one who frequently says, your words, actions and deeds have to be consistent because they form your brand. If aggressiveness is her brand, then she lost me.

In closing, always be in the mindset of building relationships by understanding your prospect’s point of view first; build for the long-term and strive to over-deliver on expectations. This marketing-communication style will serve to put you in the leadership and expert arena and help you to achieve the Smooth Sale!

Attract More Sales: Tip #289

Are your decisions attracting the right opportunities?

The strategy behind this one endeavor we undertake on a daily basis is so often overlooked yet profoundly affects our outcome. So whether you are seeking employment, clients or a significant other – prior to making a decision, you need to prioritize what is most important before making your decision.

This is true even of how you plan your vacations. I just returned from speaking at a convention in Paris, France (must brag – it was very well received)! My husband and I planned a vacation traveling through Provence prior to the event. While it was great to be away, we quickly realized we no longer can travel as if we are in our 20′s – it was truly exhausting. If we had given thought to our plan, we would not have been as ambitious but rather remained in one or two locations and leisurely enjoyed those areas.

When undertaking career or business decisions, you need to think ahead of what your desired outcome will look like. Then work out a plan for achieving your goals, carefully planning each phase so that no step is overlooked and career or business development is steady.

In this manner you will be more relaxed and feel as if you are on vacation thus attracting additional prospects, clients and sales. Your relaxed communication style will become your marketing message that you are easy to work with.

Planning ahead, being mindful of your clientele and building relationships are what help you to achieve the Smooth Sale!

Your communication style affects your outcome.

The outcome of the Powerful Women International Conference held in Paris and of my talk “Find Your Voice to Let it Be Heard” proved once again that it is the personal connection you make for all endeavors that will translate into receiving whatever it is you desire whether additional business, a career or significant other.

Wherever we are located and whatever our backgrounds, most people struggle with building confidence and moving forward in the manner that is right for them.

The universal theme of the speakers at the convention was to work from your heart first, connect deeply with others in order to have your journey unfold in a most remarkable and memorable way. This is what will open you up to the world to realize far greater potential.

My message was community service and working to help others must come first for the golden doors of opportunity will open. Attendees from many represented countries approached me afterward to thank me for my insight to help them look at business in an entirely different light.

I also shared that writing a book for your prospects and clients, hosting an internet radio show, writing a blog – these are all ways in which to further let your voice be heard and attract more sales. In fact, on June 2, I will be teaching how to write that very book along with how to sell more copies utilizing social media. For more information, please click here.

Speaking in France and meeting people from around the world proved to be a very rewarding experience. Connecting with each attendee came from the heart as well as enabled business development. Once again I enjoyed a Smooth Sale!

The art of gift-giving is very similar to building repeat business and referrals.

Our daughter was ecstatic when she saw the purse we picked out for her while on our trip in France. It was the right style for her age, well-made, the right size and exactly what she would have picked for herself. In other words, we got into her mindset and delivered precisely what she would have wanted. The appreciation we received made it all very worthwhile!

When you deliver services to your prospects and clients in the same manner – first understanding their mindset to deliver beyond their expectations – you will have the key to business development and bringing in your biggest ROI. This works for anything you want in life including interviewing to get that special job you have in mind.

Operating in this manner, you will be seen not only as a leader in your field but as the expert. Repeat business, referrals and testimonials will come your way leading always to a very Smooth Sale!

Are you missing pieces to your puzzle?

On occasion I meet people who try to build their business too quickly or put programs together too hastily. No forethought is given as to what might transpire after their actionable items are put into place.

What will their prospects and clients think about the final product? Will repeat business, referrals and testimonials be received? Likewise, when you go on job interviews are you prepared for questions that may be asked of you when you state your case?

Thinking ahead of how your business, event or interviewing will come across to others is all part of your business planning and development. Without it you will not attract additional sales and have a hard time securing the initial one.

A new program came to light where partners were to share in the limelight telling of their expertise, yet, some were given 90 minutes whereas other 30 and as a little as 15 minutes. You can bet those in the latter category weren’t very happy. Will they participate again? Only if an apology is forthcoming as well as a detailed plan for the next time around.

When your mindset is one of plan accordingly, you will come across as the expert and leader in your field. Everything else becomes a Smooth Sale!

Do you sell value?

Selling value is one of the most important strategies for a lifelong clientele as well as receiving referrals and testimonials. If you sell too inexpensively, prospects will believe your services/products are not of high quality; if you sell at too high a level, you limit the number of potential new clients. However, when you are moderately priced and clearly state the value derived when others consider purchasing from you, your potential will increase dramatically.

We are currently traveling through the countryside of France prior to my speaking at an international convention in Paris. A few places were so expensive it was an insult to our intelligence for what they were offering while others were offering value beyond our expectations.

Likewise, when you operate a business contemplate where your competitors price their services versus yours. What makes your services unique, more desirable, better, or why will a client benefit from doing business with you?

When you can put your mindset and focus on offering value and expertly communicate the differences between you and your competition conveying the value you offer, you will put yourself in a leadership capacity. Your business development will take off. You will soon be attracting more sales and most importantly, enjoying the Smooth Sale!

Attract More Sales: Tip #284

Have you been overcoming obstacles to attract more sales?

2009 was a very tough year for business. Personally I changed a number of venues for how I do business and never considered giving up. My belief is you do not let situations force you to give up. Instead, you find ways to make things work and then only when you decide you are ready do you move on to new pastures.

Our newspaper today featured many extra advertisements – a clear signal the economy is picking up again. And with the lazy days of summer ahead, this just might be the best time to reflect on the obstacles you overcame and the lessons you learned to plan out the remainder of your year for advancing more quickly.

My mantra this year is to let your voice be heard, particularly so for those who are shy or have difficult people in their lives. The written word is one of the best ways to get started. This is both a business development plan as well as your marketing strategy, and we all know marketing precedes sales. Consider writing a blog or articles to be sent to other sites to help your effort and attract more attention to your expertise. Find an inexpensive internet radio station such as TheWINOnline to host your own radio show. Take a public speaking class to speak at events. All of these activities will put you in front of new prospects some of whom will become your clients as you build a relationship with them.

As you develop a variety of ways to market your business, revenue will increase and your confidence will soar thus helping you to find your voice. The last piece of advice is to write a book whether you seek a publisher, self-publish or write an e-book. Couple the book with marketing it online to a worldwide audience and the book will do well. The advantage of the ebook is that the outlay of money is a fraction of the cost for the other routes and will get to market much more quickly. We have a new “How to Write An eBook and Sell More Copies Online” 5-part webinar series beginning June 2. A book of any type is almost “the new business card”.

When you are utilizing every means of media possible, opportunity finds you. I am leaving today for a vacation in France ending with speaking in Paris at the Powerful Women International Conference on May 14-15. For those of you able, please join us – my talk will be on “Find Your Voice to Let It Be Heard!”

I clearly recognize the hurdles I jumped through to get to this point and am welcoming many future opportunities. When you look back and then plan accordingly for the future, you too will experience the Smooth Sale.

Attract More Sales: Tip #283

Are you aware that Everything you do sends a marketing message to others?

Whether you are job-seeking, selling to prospects and clients, or trying to establish a relationship with a certain someone – the congruity of your words, actions and deeds are what matter. For example:

1. When you communicate to your clientele that no detail is too small for your to follow up on, then by all means you better agree to everything they request.
2. While interviewing you claim to be a team player, then it will be wise to ask to meet in advance with the other people whom you will be working.
3. Should you be trying to influence another to take interest in you, it will be a good idea to come across as thoughtful and very low maintenance.

Marketing-communications or how you approach others is the first step to making a lasting impression and ultimately your sale. The sale is loosely defined here as working toward getting what you want and being granted your wish.

When you continually work toward building relationships with everyone this becomes you business development practice leading to increased sales or wishes granted. It’s the essence of the Smooth Sale!
