Attract the Right Job or Clientele:  Avoid this Enemy of Productive Days

No doubt we have each experienced putting in long work hours only to feel as if not much was accomplished. It’s exasperating to say the least. By focusing on the source of the problem, we are then able to find a solution to prevent it from happening again.

Make the most of each day to enjoy a brighter tomorrow

My Story

We each have a different style. This is referred to as NLP or Neuro-linguistic programming. Some of us are visual while others are auditory and kinesthetic. While we are accustomed to seeking out clues from prospective hiring managers or clientele, we rarely think about how it may also affect our productivity.

Accordingly, a visual like me, is very distracted by a lot of noise. Should there be a lot of conversation or loud sound in an office, I immediately seek out quiet space. It’s the only way I can focus on immediate tasks.

Another type of disturbance is that of unexpected calls, calamities or requirements not previously mentioned. Although sometimes annoying, I’m able to make up for lost time due to the following:

  • A running task list so I always know what needs to be done next
  • A safety net of time set aside on a particular evening or a weekend day.
  • Concentrated effort on everything need to be completed and distractions eliminated.

In adhering to these efficiency principles, I’m able to accomplish more than most in a particular period of time. In the early days of business, peers asked how I was advancing at lightning speed.

Your Story: Avoid this Enemy of Productive Days

Should you be struggling with obligation and people interrupting your day, give consideration as to where you might improve your agility.

Do you:

  • Freely participate in office discussions that don’t contribute to your goals?
  • Take long coffee breaks and lunch hours simply to be friendly?
  • Feel obligated every time someone has a request of you?

To get a handle on producing more, whether an employee or entrepreneur, review how your time is spent each day. Is being friendly via idle chatter truly getting you anywhere? Can you be friendly on your own terms? It’s always great to help someone out but not to the detriment of what you need to accomplish. Reciprocal agreements will help considerably into the future.

By maintaining a running task list, with an eye on your milestones to be accomplished, and larger vision in mind, you will accomplish far more in less time. The only requirement is to commit to this practice 100%. Persistence prevails.

Sales Tips: Avoid this Enemy of Productive Days

  1. Commit to a daily running task list to eliminate wasted time
  2. Always know what you need to work on next
  3. Rid yourself of obligation but know when to offer help
  4. Create a reciprocal environment whereby help is available as needed
  5. Remove yourself from distractions
  6. Have a safety net backup plan in case an emergency arises
  7. Commit to making up for lost time ASAP
  8. As you cross of current tasks keep revising your goals and milestones
  9. As you achieve goals and milestones, reset your new long term vision
  10. Recognizing you are close to achieving your long term vision, create a living legacy
