Guiltless Sales
I put time in, you owe me the business.
Have you ever heard the above sentiment uttered when declining the service of another? Business is never owed, instead it is earned. Service providers who behave in this manner do not understand it is the quickest way to kill business.
The service provider I am referring to almost tripled his fees from the original verbal quote. Upon reminding him of what he previously said, he claimed he did not remember. Furthermore, he said, You owe me the business. It was at this juncture, I paid him for his time spent consulting. I then said this is where we end. The contract now belongs to someone else.
Had this service provider spent his time trying to earn our business in an honest manner, he would have had the business and a Smooth Sale!
