Attract the Right Job or Clientele: Sales Tip #690

What you hear becomes increased revenue

No, I'm not talking about taking someone else's idea!  Instead, I'm referring to the mini compliments you might receive in tweets, email, or on the phone.  Even job interviews sometimes bring about compliments on which you should continue the conversation, not by bragging but speak to your specific trait that they like and how it will help the company.

When you pay careful attention to what is being said, you will recognize what your associates and clientele truly like about you.  These comments will also clue you to what you should deliver more of and what to create next.

The forever sales motto is, "You need to deliver to the needs, wants and deep down desires of others to find succes."  The saying makes perfect sense and it is a truism.

In addition to hearing and reading what is being said, question-led conversations bring out additional insight, information that might not otherwise be shared.

My own motto is, "Question, Listen and Clarify".

Promise yourself to pay better attention to what others are telling you and deliver upon it.  Business visibility will increase due to good word of mouth, and your sales will increase too.  You will be headed for the Smooth Sale!

On March 8th we will be celebrating International Women's Day.

The event in San Francisco will take place at the Mark Hopkins InterContinental Hotel.
Just announced:  I will be receiving the "Global Leadership Award"!

Your Choices Determine the Results

Very often we are reminded of the expression, "Put one foot in front of the other".  This is to get us on a sure and steady path.  Sometimes though it isn't that easy.  Opportunities come along that sound exciting and on occasion we jump at the chance but it doesn't always work out the way it was supposed to.

What do we do in the future?

As we get better known and increase our social media online followings, more people find us and ask favors.  Or offers of collaboration come about of which we don't have time to satisfy all requests.  How do you handle all of this?

In sales training, I learned the word, "Qualify".  A good idea, before you accept any offer, is to find out as much as you can about the opportunity being offered.  Is it synchronous with what you are trying to achieve?  Is it at a level where you are comfortable or wish to stretch to achieve?  What are all of the obligations attached and will you be able to deliver to their satisfaction?

Should you have doubt about any of these answers, have a serious conversation as to the other party's expectations.  The last thing you want to do is fall short of their true expectations.  This is where bad word of mouth will hurt your business.  You will do them and yourself a favor when you are honest about whether you have time and the commitment to deliver.

Finally, consider where you are headed and if they share the same view.  When you clearly see the benefits then say "Yes"!   Rather than scurrying backwards to fix what went wrong, it is the qualifying process that will help you maintain the path of putting one foot in front of the other.

Once on a steady footing, you will be headed for the Smooth Sale!

Celebrate with Clients and Hiring Companies

I wish with tulip magnolia blossoms

This past weekend I celebrated a BIG birthday.  Today I was calling friends and writing notes to those who brought something special.  Together we recalled events, I relived the special moment and excitement was regenerated through the communication.

It is the regenerating of excitement that will land you the job you desire or additional business and sales.  "Mary" wrote thank you notes to everyone who interviewed her last week.  Within minutes she received back equally excited email from everyone with whom she corresponded.  To her great delight, Mary soon heard HIRED!

When your prospects become actual clients, be certain to write thank you notes.  Recap why you are excited to be working with your clients and what they may expect in return.  A week or two later, check in by phone or in person to see how they are enjoying what they just bought and if any extra sevice may be needed.

By cultivating excitement, you harvest big reward.  Additional sales, career advancement and increased business are earned by showing sincerity, holding the other party's interests at heart and delivering on your promises.  Add an ounce of fun and your outcome will be better than ever expected leading to a very Smooth Sale!

Anticipating the New Year

My desk is a mess!  How about email, the long to-do list that never got done and all of the people who asked to be contacted but never were?

While these thoughts are demotivating, how good we will all feel when we tend to tidying up what was once a mess!  Consider discarding those teensy pieces of paper with names and phone numbers written on them but most likely will never be called; the to-do lists that are now out of date; and the  files on your computer awaiting deletion.

By taking the slower last couple days of the year to clean up everywhere, you will be ready to roll full steam ahead the first working day of the New Year.  In the process of moving from disarray to tidiness comes clear thinking as to the path you truly wish to take.  Once on this enlightened path, new ideas for additional products and services come your way to attract wider audiences.

Are  your goals to attract increased prospects for employment or business, opportunity for collaboration or creating a brand new project that will gain you much recognition?  Envision where you wish to be headed and create the plan to begin putting it in place.  Get the help you need for the time consuming or difficult tasks and work on building confidence so that you possess the belief you will be successful.
