Attract the Right Job or Clientele: Sales Tip #694

Ideas for Cross-Promotion and Improved Results

Techno Echo I

Upon statrting my business I learned I needed to stop being shy about promoting my activities.  It was a difficult step to take but I learned how to do it without bragging.  Yet some still were not convinced I would find success.  They didn't believe I could get known without hard core tactics.

Social media aleviated the difficulty of promotion for many reserved people.  By posting your information and encouraging dialogue, you begin to attract those interested in what you have to offer.  Over time, as you get to know one another well, you might ask if they would like to find ways in which you can help one another.  These collaborative techniques also work well for seeking work and getting HIRED!

Finding a fit may be as simple as partnering on a project, promoting one another's events or contributing a blog to one another's site.  Crafting tweets and email with customized links makes it easy for another to agree to work with you. You will reach people that would otherwise not be accessible thereby making your business and you better known.  You will be headed toward a very Smooth Sale!

The events spiral your business upward and more offers for joint ventures come to light.  For example, some of the people with whom you connect may have the perfect connection for you.  Next week, on March 8th, we will be celebrating International Women's Day.

The event in San Francisco will take place at the Mark Hopkins InterContinental Hotel. I hope you will be able to join me there.  Due to becoming known through my connections, I will be receiving the "Global Leadership Award"!

Build Possibilities with Social Media

Bus Spotters

Elinor’s Note:  Today's blog comes from Lauren Carlson, CRM Analyst.  As you read her tips, you will see we are in alignment with the application of social media for growing business, finding career opportunity, and building relationships.
______

Check out this infographic from InsideView: http://www.insideview.com/social-media-facts.html   It illustrates the growth of social media usage in the B2B space. Though the data is, well, dated, it’s less about the numbers and more about the overall trend.

For a long time, social media was seen as B2C territory. However, more and more, we are seeing B2B buyers engage on social media networks. So, if social media is where B2B buyers are, then B2B sales professionals need to meet them there to start that engagement. But what does that engagement look like?

I have identified five strategies that B2B sales professionals can use social media channels to not only enhance customer engagement, but ultimately close more deals.

  • Identify Problems You Can Solve – Social media is a great outlet for discussing issues or problems that you are encountering. Sales professionals can use this to their advantage by searching for “signal phrases,” or phrases that mention specific pain points that your company or product can address.

  • Buyer Education – This one isn’t about educating your buyer about your company. Rather, it’s about educating you on the buyer. Smart B2B sales professionals will go beyond the social media profile, looking at the entire gamut of the buyer’s online engagement. What are they interested in? What discussions are they contributing to? This helps paint a more clear picture of the buyer, which helps the sales person have more targeted conversations and, ultimately, win their business.

  • Gauge Your Competition – Not only can you find out how your potential buyers are engaging online, but you can also see how your competition is engaging with those opportunities. Because social networks are fairly open forums, it’s difficult for anyone to hide their cards. Therefore, B2B sales professionals can easily see what tactics their competition are using, who they are targeting, what’s working and, more importantly, what’s not.

So far, we have discussed three of the five strategies for B2B sales professionals to effectively engage over social media. For the full list, head over to the SFA Software Advice site and check out the original post.

Old Dogs CAN Learn New Tricks!

black white red all over

"You can't teach an old dog new tricks" refers to older people not being able to grasp new ideas or converse with younger generations.  Their tired ways of doing things are too ingrained.  But I am very proud to say, I have proof that notion is incorrect!

Certainly among my peers, I was the first to join the social media craze to learn how it is to be used.  I immediately saw the potential and adapted my corporate relationship selling style to online.  Further building relationships online, learning to collaborate and learning to use all the mediums available including video helped greatly to increase my followings.  Social media and collaboration are a very powerful combination and turn the business playground into a level playing ground.  Anyone determined enough can win.

In this regard, the highlight for this old dog picking up new tricks came yesterday.  I normally do not boast but this is, in a sense, the end of a very long journey.  OpenView Labs created an algorithm to determine the Top 25 Sales Influencers in 2012 – I was included!  I will be forever grateful.

The reason I view this as an amazing achievement is due to the journey I took to get here.  My corporate sales career consisted of me manuvering around the men who thought women couldn't sell or didn't belong on the sales team.  It wasn't easy, but determination got me through it.  I view this listing as a pinnacle of my entire career.  Among the international selection, other women such as Lori Richardson and Jill Konrath were included too.  It speaks volumes for how our society is finally changing for the better.

I am more determined than ever to help those I may.  Please contact me if you are interested.  Here are a few possibilities to help you persevere to get you to your destination:

Using Social Media to Generate Interest

Rhythm and Fire
Light a Fire Under Your Plan!

Many people are still in disbelief I have formed lifetime friendships and found incredible opportunity through the use of social media.  Your best branding tool to reach multiple audiences in greater volume is social media.

The opportunity comes from transferring the relationship building skills found in my book, Nice Girls DO Get the Sale, to building relationships online.  It's about getting to know the other people first and showing appreciation for what they offer.  It's also about providing helpful advice without any expectation, and creating a dialogue with those who appreciate you in return.

Many ask, how can giving away your information for free possibly bring about business or potential interviews?  You become known by:

- Presenting yourself as the expert in your space

- Responding to the advice of others

- Offering help to those requesting it and by volunteering

- Beginning discussions or participating in those of others

- Thanking people for bringing you into the limelight

This all goes to building your personal brand and professionalism.  These tips do help get you on the right footing to travel toward getting the sale or hearing HIRED!  Today, I found two people appreciated my article, "Your Brand Creates Revenue" to the point they each Tweeted it to their followings.  It's a great testimony to building those relationships!

In this frame of mind, if I may help you personally or your team, I offer free 20 minute consultation to help you achieve you own Smooth Sale!

Attract More Sales: Tip #336

Are you encouraging one-time clients or a returning and referring clientele?

An associate pointed me to Richard’s site to review his social media services and pricing. It quickly occurred to me that Richard is asking very high prices for a tiny piece of the puzzle. For thousands of dollars you are able to partake of his services.

Sadly, once the money is spent the realization will hit his clients:
On-going support is lacking, and Knowledge of how to best utilize what Richard installed – are the two biggest missing pieces from his “package”. I predict frustration and dis-satisfaction will set in. These clients will be one-time only with no further traction.

Now imagine a social media university where for a modest monthly fee, you can get all of the information you need. This would include not only how to set up your groups but how to attract more prospects, clients, and sales. You would get the support you need when you have questions and continue to learn the latest techniques for growing your business.

On the next level but no extra money, you would be a part of an international collaboration of like minded entrepreneurs striving to help others grow in their endeavors. You would be learning far more than what you pay for and perhaps even find new budding joint ventures as well as new services to offer.

When you partake in a community whose motto is “give first” and they practice what they preach, chances are you will soon learn to build valuable relationships and develop your own returning and referring clientele. You will soon be seen as the expert in your field and take on a leadership role as your marketing-communication messages become refined.

If this sounds “too far out there” and “impossible”, I especially invite you to visit Whispering Energy. This collaboration is exactly as I imagined above and made a huge difference for the outlook of my own business. WE are unveiling a brand new social media university of which I am one of the faculty members. Take a serious look to see if our modest fee of $67 per month will be worth your while in terms of education and value for your long term business goals.

Above all, I wish you always a very Smooth Sale!
